Annie Barber

Annie was born, raised and educated in Copenhagen, Denmark. She always was interested in art and took drawing classes in Copenhagen.

Later in life she went to Italy to study the language and culture and lived there for 10 years. She met and married her American husband in Italy in 1975 and moved to California in 1978. She became an American citizen in 1987.

Annie works in watercolor, layered watercolor collages and in acrylic. She paints for pure enjoyment and the excitement of watching a painting develop through experimentation with color, texture and design. Annie especially loves to paint flora and landscapes. She started painting in acrylic in 1990 and took several workshops in Thousand Oaks, California.

After moving to St. George in 1998 she met a watercolor artist Margaret Webb who inspired her to start painting in watercolor. She joined Southern Utah Watercolor Society in 2001 and is a signature member.

She enrolled in Dixie State College and took lots of classes with Roland Lee, Max Bunnell Mel Scott and Del Parson.

She also took several workshops with Carl Purcell, Roland Lee, Wallace Lee, Max Bunnell, Don Andrews and Lola Krummenacher.

She has won Best of Show and several awards.
